Gorgeous Lil' Guy

Now this is a gorgeous baby. I couldn't keep my hands off him. Well, I had to eventually stop admiring baby Nathan aka 'Nate Dogg' and make some memories of the precious thing.

Nathan's details were easily distinguished - his dark eyes, fluffy hair, perched mouth were all recipe for a yummy baby! My favourite shots included the studio cats crawling into the pictures, the scale perspective of baby Nathan in Body-Builder Dad's arms, and Nathan falling asleep right in the middle of the photoshoot!

Congratulations to our friends Sandra & Jeremy on an adorable
3-month old munchkin.

I Love Havana!

Havana streets were my favourite part of Cuba. I ventured off from my tour group to get down to the nitty gritty (literally) and walked into the old streets of Havana. Not very touristy, but there was nothing to be afraid of. ‘Poverty’ as all my fellow-tourists kept frowning at, did not really look so bad to me. People were housed in old and crumbling, but beautifully designed buildings. They kept their windows and doors open and neighbours and friends were always close to interact with. There was a great sense of family (and pregnant ladies) everywhere. Lovers held hands and walked to a Cuban celebration, and along the way asked my husband and I to join them. Cubans are the most friendly people I have ever met, and absolutely loved Canadians. They all dressed nicely and wore smiles on their faces. Though the streets were a bit dirty, in my opinion, everything was well kept. People swept their front steps, and had good hygiene! Better than north Americans. So what if they didn’t have mercedez, namebrand clothing, and the “luxuries” that we do. Who’s to say they live lesser than us? I felt more love, contentment and happiness in Cuban air than we have in our perfect, automatic, and luxurious robot world.

Bling & Bondo

Part II Cuba Series
One of the most fascinating things about Cuba was seeing the old cars! It was as if two era’s had merged. The classics, that looked as if they had been crazy-glued together always caught my eye. It was neat seeing the cars pulled over to the side of the road being repaired...and even more amazing that the Cubans kept these gems running! It’s as if we were in the old days and time had just stopped. And I got to see it in colour! See for yourself.

Cuba Scenics

Havana was actually what I really wanted to see in Cuba. I could only take so much of beach lounging with fellow Canadians – I was itching to get out there to meet true Cubans, and see old Havana. So off we went, on a bus.

Here we start, the first of my Cuba Series.
I visited the old forts, that long ago, protected the city of Havana, and thank god they did. What a beautiful city it is! Check out the cityscapes!

'Empowering Future Leaders'

Today I had the opportunity to speak at a forum put on for International Women's Day: 'Empowering Future Leaders'. It's not something I'm used to doing, but I made it through.

I have to say how thankful I am for the opportunity to have met such wonderful women...
The women who surrounded me were full of passion and energy, and were truly inspiring.
As I hope to have been able to offer some guidance for the young girls who came out to listen, I know for a fact that I, myself, brought home a great lot to think about tonight. I realise how important it is to be involved in such events, I mean, wow, talk about electrifying energy!

I feel blessed to live in a city where women are coming out strong and, are able to leap forward with such tremendous support in making a difference in the community.

Thanks to all the empowering ladies, for opening my eyes to brighter light!

Cuba

I just recently got back from Cuba, and am totally missing it!

Life in Vancouver just isn’t as colourful, but perhaps my mind will change as the weather does around here. I will be posting photos from my trip in parts, I went pretty crazy with my camera there.
